“I have too many lipsticks” – said no woman ever.
In fact, liquid lipsticks seem to have taken over the world in the last couple of years and I have to say, I’m into it.
Like Elizabeth Taylor said:
“Put on some lipstick and pull yourself together!”
So if you want to save some $$ and still rock a bold lip, have a read of my favourite liquid lipsticks from the drugstore.
To start things off, here’s a swatch:
Makeup Revolution Retro Luxe Lip Kits £6
If you’re looking for a dupe for the Kylie Lip Kits, then this is the closest you’ll find in the drugstore. For just £6 you get 5.5ml of liquid lipstick and a matching lip liner (1g) which super creamy. My favourite colour is Bow Down, a beige nude (see picture).
The formula of this lipstick is unique compared to any other on this list as it’s super thin (almost watery) although still completely opaque! I find this dries in seconds – no smudges and non transfer! – and will not budge allll day (I had trouble getting the swatch off my arm!). Because of this, it can be slightly dry but if you moisturise your lips beforehand use the lip-liner underneath then it’s super comfortable to wear.
Makeup Revolution have expanded their line to have all finishes, from metallic to gloss, but their matte formula is my favourite!
NYX Lingerie £7
Probably one of the most hyped up products from NYX, I’m sure you’ve heard of the Lingerie lipsticks if your a fan of nude!
This product is that thick and creamy that it applies like a regular bullet lipstick and is really comfortable on the lips. Despite this it does eventually dry down into a matte shade.
No transfer, no smudging and no fading, this one is a staple for anyone’s makeup collection!
Maybelline Colour Sensational Vivid Matte £7.99
For bold colours, this is my absolute favourite product purely for it’s staying power. Even though I rub my lips together out of habit, I can confidently go out with this bold red lip knowing that it’s not going to fade. At all.
If you like a colourful lip or just want to try something different out, the shade range for this line is perfect.
I completely lost this baby for a couple of days and by the time I found it, it was too dark for photos! So here’s a picture of me wearing it instead:
L’oreal Infallible Matte Lip Paint £6.99
L’Oreal are killing it with packaging of their Lip Paints! The purple squeezy tube and silver detailing is definitely what brought my attention to this product. The wand shape is also unique too as the dome shape fits the shape of your lip perfectly and makes application 10x easier.
Matte formulas are usually quite drying so I was surprised to find that this one is more of a mousse texture and doesn’t completely dry down so is definitely the most comfortable to wear in this entire list. The only problem with this is that is does transfer! You may need to reapply the colour throughout the day but the result is still beautiful.
Colourpop Metallic Lip $6/
This is the cheapest option on the list, being just $6! However be careful of shipping and custom fees if you live outside of the US as this can really bump the price up.
Honestly, the only bad thing about this product is the packaging which is pretty cheap and wears off easily (as you can see by the picture mine has seen better days) but for the price of it you can’t really complain!
This shade is XX and is in the metallic range and looks ultra shiny and unique on the lips. The formula dries down completely but keeps its sheen and NO TRANSFER! Because of the shine, it can show the slight texture of your natural lips so if that bothers you this one may not be for you.
I haven’t tried the Kylie Jenner metallic lips however rumours are that these are made in the same factory, so definitely worth a try if you want to save some coin!
Bourjois Rouge Velvet Lipstick £8.49
This one is pretty similar to the L’oreal Lip Paint, however it doesn’t dry down as a matte but more of a velvety sheen.
The Rouge shade range is just that: a collection of pinks and warm nudes for a more muted look.
The formula is super creamy and comfortable however does transfer and needs top ups throughout the day!
What are your favourite liquid lipsticks? Have you tried any of these? Let me know! 🙂
